6.5 Grendel vs 6.8 SPC
#1
I read this article from gunworld tonight and thought I would share.

https://www.gunworld.com/ammo/bullet-bat...ngton-spc/

Everyone knows I'm a huge 6.5 Grendel fan. In fact, I have four ARs in that chamber. Sure, I've got ARs chambered in 6.8 SPC, 300 BLK, 7.62x39 and .50 Beowulf but my personal favorite remains the Grendel.

I like the Grendel because I'm usually hunting mountains in Hawaii or Califorina and I need a round that can reach out at distance. I've never had anything survive a 6.5 Grenedel hit, 95% of the time DRT dropped in their tracks. I know for closer range, a lot of hunters prefer the 6.8 SPC. When I transfer out of Cali, I want to try the .224 Valkrye and 6.5 Creedmoor.

Some of my hunting adventures with 6.5 Grendel.

Can you give us some insight on your 6.8? The Army will transition its 5.56 to the 6.8 soon, and that should help ammo become more affordable. What hunting loads are you using with it?

The Army is going to the 6.8 NGSAR (general purpose cartridge), not the 6.8 SPC.

However, the new Russian battle rifle Kalashnikov AK-12 (AK-200) is chambered in 6.5 Grendel.

My 6.8 SPC is currently in Oklahoma. I orginally made the upper featureless (as you can see the thread protector). The upper is a Hardened Arms 16" upper, on an Anderson arms lower with Lucid red dot optic and Magpul furniture. IMHO, it performs similiar to the 300 BLK and 7.62x39. At 300 yards, mine wouldn't spin the metal target where my 6.5 Grendels will all day long. When I move to Nebraksa, I'm thiking of putting my Thor thermal optic on it for 200 yards and closer night hunting. I think the 6.8 SPC is an awesome cartridge, I primarily use 6.5 Grendel to cover distance.

The rounds were Hornady 6.8 SPC 110 grain and Hornady SST 123 Grain [Image: f59a4d31761dc0021aae0c05ac70d5df.jpg]

Thanks for putting this up; looks like the proof is in the tables for the 6.5 being the better round at all distances.
