Feb rut confirmation
#1
Yesterday evening I was leaving my house and about ran over a doe with 2 spotted fawns. They were tiny. Maybe 20 to 25 lbs each and full spots wobbly and 5 or 6 weeks old at most. Youngest deer I've ever seen this late in the season. I've seen activity around here as late as December but she had to have been bred in mid February 19 for it to add up given the size of those fawns.

Man, that's wild. Not a very good chance for them little ones to make it

I have pictures of bucks hitting scrapes into January in previous years. Does not surprise me. Unhealthy deer herds can really have a variance in when the breeding occurs and subsequently, when the fawn are born.

There are fawns born every month of the year. Anomalies.
